Theresa Villiers is a strong supporter of the NHS. Improving healthcare for her constituents is one of her top priorities. She campaigned successfully to prevent services in Barnet Hospital from being scaled back in any of the health reconfigurations proposed by the last Labour Government. Under this Conservative-led Government, maternity, children's and A&E services have been expanded at Barnet Hospital with major new facilities opened.
Theresa has worked extensively to combat anti-Semitism, working with the police and organisations such as the Community Security Trust. She has repeatedly spoken up in support of the state of Israel, and has been a member of Conservative Friends of Israel for many years.
Theresa has consistently supported small businesses and retailers, both in campaigning for local projects in high streets around the constituency and supporting legislation in Parliament to benefit small businesses:

Barnet has some of the best state schools in the country and Theresa Villiers has worked hard to support them. She helped our top performing secondary schools gain academy status, and was strongly supportive of two new schools set up in her constituency serving Barnet’s diverse communities.

Theresa Villiers was contacted by local residents in 2014 concerned about slow broadband speeds in parts of her constituency. While most homes and businesses can access superfast broadband speeds in Barnet, certain areas had been left with older, slower connections. A long campaign followed.
A successful campaign led by Theresa Villiers MP, former ward councillor, Kate Salinger (pictured above), and the Pinkham Way Alliance has seen the North London Waste Authority abandon its plans to build a huge waste disposal facility at Pinkham Way.
Barnet is one of the country’s most diverse boroughs, with residents from an immensely wide range of different cultural, religious, ethnic and national backgrounds. Theresa’s campaigning priorities reflect that diversity with a focus on a number of issues looking out to the wider world.
