Poppy Appeal launched in Barnet

The launch of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal today received support from Chipping Barnet MP, Theresa Villiers, with a parade through East Barnet and church service in Brookside Methodist Church.

East Barnet Health Centre reopened!

East Barnet Health Centre has now reopened for patients. Following the completion of the health centre’s £1m upgrade by the NHS, the GPs were given the keys to the building in early October. Doctors began seeing patients on October 19th, meaning that the centre is fully open for business.

Villiers backs local traders in campaign to save Brake Shear House

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet has backed the campaign against demolition of Brake Shear House in Barnet High Street. The plans by the new owner to redevelop the site would lead to the eviction of all the current tenants who have a range of businesses based there.

Villiers calls for Barnet Cricket Club ground to reopen for community use

At the request of a group of constituents, Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, bought together representatives from key bodies to consider the future of the Barnet Cricket Club ground next to the Underhill football stadium. The stadium has been bought by the Education Funding Agency (a government body) so they can build a new free school which will be run by the Ark Academy.

Food waste reduction campaign backed by MP

After receiving a number of emails from constituents expressing concern about food waste, Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, is urging local supermarkets to do more to reduce the amount of food thrown away. Whetstone restaurant in House of Commons curry contest

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has nominated the Bayleaf Restaurant on Whetstone High Road for the Tiffin Cup. This competition is run by MPs to find the country’s best Indian restaurant. This is the second year that Theresa has nominated the Bayleaf which is owned by local resident, Toffozul Miah. She recently dropped into the Bayleaf to wish them well with the competition.

East Barnet Health Centre: Villiers pushes for progress after set-back for campaign to reopen the health centre

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has stepped up her campaign to get East Barnet Health Centre re-opened when refurbishment works are completed at the end of the month. She has been in contact with both NHS Property Services (NHSPS) and the East Barnet GPs to urge them to keep working towards the early October date for reopening which has been planned since February. She was alarmed to hear that progress on agreeing new legal documentation needed to cover the GPs’ occupancy of the newly refurbished health centre had stalled.
