Theresa Villiers, Conservative candidate for Chipping Banet, has launched a petition to save the fields at Whalebones. Located in High Barnet the site consists mainly of woods and farmland in the heart of the suburbs. It is surrounded by a conservation area and has a unique history.

She campaigned successfully to prevent services in Barnet Hospital from being scaled back in any of the health reconfigurations proposed by the last Labour Government. Under this Conservative-led Government, maternity, children's and A&E services have been expanded at Barnet Hospital with major new facilities opened.
