NATIONAL GRID AND VEOLIA WATER AGREE TO ATTEND EAST BARNET RESIDENTS' MEETING

Following requests from Chipping Barnet MP, Theresa Villiers, both National Grid and Veolia Water have agreed to take part in a meeting with East Barnet residents affected by the Christmas Gas Crisis. The meeting will take place on Wednesday 10th February at 7.30pm at the Community Centre at 48 Victoria Road. Residents are looking to question both companies on their handling of the crisis and the level of compensation on offer.

Up to 3500 homes in East Barnet lost their gas supply after a water main burst and leaked into the gas network just before Christmas last year. Some also lost their electricity as an influx of people plugging in electric heaters and hobs blew the electricity supply. Residents were initially... (continued)

VILLIERS NOMINATES 'BARGAIN BUYS' ON CHIPPING BARNET HIGH STREET FOR SMALL SHOP OF THE YEAR AWARD

MP for Chipping Barnet, Theresa Villiers, has nominated local independent retailer 'Bargain Buys' on Chipping Barnet High Street for the award of Small Shop of the Year 2010. This annual competition is by the All Party Parliamentary Small Shops Group with the aim of rallying support for small local retailers and highlighting their important role in our local communities.
