Villiers wades in on behalf of flooded residents

Theresa Villiers MP has intervened on behalf of residents left with flooded gardens after a development removed hundreds of trees from nearby land. The occupants of a number of homes in Vernon Crescent, East Barnet, found their gardens flooded with water up to a foot deep

Minister intervenes on Barnet broadband

At the request of Chipping Barnet MP Theresa Villiers, the Minister of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Ed Vaizey, has spoken directly with BT on the need to connect up more areas in Barnet to fast fibre broadband. Thanks to this intervention in the battle to upgrade broadband speeds in High Barnet, BT have given assurances on a number of problem cabinets in High Barnet.

Launch of 'World Watch List'

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, last week hosted the Parliamentary and press launch of the Open Doors 2016 World Watch List: the list of the 50 most dangerous countries for Christians to live. Over 100 Members of Parliament attended. 

Holocaust Memorial Day supported by Barnet MPs

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, attended Barnet Council’s annual commemoration of Holocaust Memorial Day at the weekend, along with Mike Freer, MP for Finchley and Golders Green and Matthew Offord, MP for Hendon. The event took place on Sunday at the Rickett Quadrangle of Middlesex University in The Burroughs in Hendon.

Action against burglary welcomed by MP

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has welcomed the action being taken by the police in Barnet to combat burglary. Taking up the concerns of residents, Theresa has urged the police to put burglary at the top of their list of local priorities. Operation Maxilla was launched in November and officers undertook a number of initiatives including plain clothes and hi visibility patrols, utilising ANPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition) cameras and providing crime prevention advice.

Barnet almshouse charities protected

Theresa Villiers has acted on behalf of Barnet’s almshouse charities to preserve their unique status. This a form of charity which dates back to the 10th century and has for hundreds of years provided homes for the poor or elderly from a geographical area or a particular profession.
