VILLIERS WELCOMES NEW RULES TO SUPPORT LOCAL PUBS

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has welcomed the announcement of new rules to ensure that tied pubs are given a fair deal by pub companies. These will be included in a bill on small businesses which was announced in the Queen’s speech today.

VILLIERS SUPPORTS FINCHLEY LITERARY FESTIVAL EVENT AT FRIERN BARNET COMMUNITY LIBRARY

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, gave her support to the Finchley Literary Festival by attending the "Spoken Word Showcase" event at Friern Barnet Community Library on Friday.

During the evening, prose and poetry was read out by authors from the Greenacre Writers group and others. Those taking part included Allen Ashley, who introduced the writers, Kit Habianic, Rosie Canning, Mike Gee, Carol Sampson, Bill Todd, Lindsay Bamfield and Michelle Shine.

VILLIERS OPENS NEW SWIMMING POOL FOR OAKLEIGH PARK SCHOOL OF SWIMMING

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, today opened a brand new swimming pool next to Frith Manor School in Lullington Garth, Woodside Park. The swimming pool was built by Oakleigh Park School of Swimming who run a number of pools in Theresa's Chipping Barnet constituency.

VILLIERS TURNS OUT TO SUPPORT CLASSIC CAR SHOW AT BARNET MARKET

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, called in at Barnet Market to support Saturday's event organised by the Friends of Barnet Market. Chris and Diane Nightingale. As well as a range of extra stalls, there was live music and an exhibition of classic cars owned by local residents.

Speaking after the event, Theresa said: "Barnet Market is going from strength to strength. I campaigned for many years to get the market's home site in St Albans Road improved. Ever since the market's owners, William Pears, provided a much needed upgrade to its facilities, the market has become more and more successful."

VILLIERS ATTENDS COPPETTS WOOD FESTIVAL AND CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF WORK BY OLIVER NATELSON

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, today attended the annual Coppetts Wood festival. This is a long running event, organised solely by local volunteers, which brings together a range of activities such as face painting, local musicians and morris dancing. It also provides the opportunity for local groups such as the Finchley Society and the Pinkham Way Alliance to set up stalls and meet local people.

Local ward councillor, Kate Salinger, has also been attending the event for many years and was there today.

Following the event, Theresa said: "It was great to be able to attend another Coppetts Wood festival. Coppetts Woods is a wonderful part of my constituency. When you are visiting this beautiful and peaceful wood, it is hard to believe that it is just yards from the busy North Circular Road."

VILLIERS WISHES HER CONSTITUENTS A HAPPY ST GEORGE'S DAY

Theresa Villiers has passed her St George's Day greetings on to her constituents, saying "I wish my constituents a very happy St George's Day. It is important that we take time to celebrate England's patron saint."

Theresa Villiers MP, for Chipping Barnet, experienced at firsthand what is involved in delivering the post when she joined local postwoman, Claire Stainton, on her delivery round in York Road and other streets in New Barnet today.

VILLIERS SUPPORTS EVENT TO MARK BANGLADESHI INDEPENDENCE DAY

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, today attended an event in Regent College, Imperial Drive, Harrow, to mark Bangladeshi Independence Day which takes place every year on 26th March.

She was there to support Hannah David, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Harrow West, and Conservative local election candidates in Harrow, including Mohammed Eaoyor Shaikh. The event was well attended by leading members of the Bangladeshi community.

VILLIERS SUPPORTS "VISION OF CYPRUS" EXHIBITION BY DOROS PARTASIDES

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, this week attended the opening of an exhibition of photos by Doros Partasides entitled "A Vision of Cyprus" in the House of Commons. The exhibition was sponsored by Matthew Offord, MP for Hendon and formally opened by Minister for Europe, David Lidington.
