CAMERON SETS OUT PLAN TO SECURE A BETTER FUTURE

Returning today from the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham, Theresa Villiers has welcomed the speech by the Prime Minister on his vision for the UK's future. Here is an extract from David Cameron's speech:

"Today I set out how we can secure a better future - and build a Britain that everyone is proud to call home.

A Britain where hard work is rewarded. Not a free-for-all, but a chance for all: the chance of a job, a home, a good start in life, whoever you are, wherever you are from.

I set out our Conservative commitment for the next five years.

CHRISTIANS IN IRAQ NEED OUR HELP

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has written to Foreign Secretary, Phillip Hammond, and International Development Secretary, Justine Greening, to highlight the grave situation faced by Christians in Iraq and to urge the Government to take action to assist them by speeding up the provision of humanitarian aid.Theresa Villiers said: "It is a great concern that so many Christians around the world face persecution and discrimination. A number of my constituents have contacted me about the plight of Christians in Iraq. The situation has become even worse with the capture of Mosul and the Nineveh Plain by ISIS/ISIL/IS forces."

VILLIERS SUPPORTS RALLY FOR CYPRUS IN TRAFALGAR SQUARE FOR 15TH YEAR

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet attended the annual rally in support of Cyprus in Trafalgar Square on Sunday. The event is organised every year by the National Federation of Cypriots to protest against the continuing division of Cyprus and to call for a negotiated settlement to reunite the island. This is the 15th rally Ms Villiers has attended. She has been supporting the rally for Cyprus ever since she was first elected as an MEP in 1999 and continued to attend when she became MP for Chipping Barnet in 2005.

VILLIERS PARTICIPATES IN SUCCESSFUL ROYAL VISIT TO NORTHERN IRELAND

In her role as Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, took part in the highly successful visit to Northern Ireland last week by Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. The visit broke new ground since it was announced in advance for the very first time. Previously, the security situation meant that details had to remain confidential until the very last minute.

VILLIERS WELCOMES GREEK CYPRIOT CAMPAIGN SUPPORT

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, met with important figures of the Greek Cypriot Community: Tony Yerolemou, President of the Greek Cypriot Brotherhood, George Mouskas, President of the Union of Greek Ship owners, Andreas Papaevripides, President of the World Federation of Overseas Cypriots, and Doros Partasides, member of Chipping Barnet Association, for their annual informal meeting in Barnet.
