Conservative Manifesto offers help for working people

Theresa Villiers has welcomed the help for hard working people set out in the Conservative Manifesto this week. After attending the launch of the manifesto in Swindon, Theresa Villiers said “Help for people who work hard and do the right thing is a top priority for the Conservatives. Our manifesto confirms that under a majority Conservative Government, there would be no increase in rates of VAT, income tax or National Insurance.”

Villiers honoured by Cypriot community

On the eve of the launch of the Conservative manifesto, Theresa Villiers, Conservative candidate for Chipping Barnet, attended an event hosted by members of the Greek Cypriot community. The evening of music was held at the Cypriot-owned Cavalier pub, in Russell Lane N20, and the renowned musician, Nikos Savvides, sang many songs about Cyprus and reminisced about life in Famagusta before the 1974 invasion. 

Green belt manifesto pledge from the Conservatives

In advance of the publication of the Conservative manifesto tomorrow, Theresa Villiers has welcomed the news that it will contain a commitment to defend the green belt. Local Government Secretary, Eric Pickles announced over the weekend that the manifesto will contain a decisive pledge to protect the green belt and prioritise the use of brownfield land for new homes.

Villiers campaigns for justice for Tamils

Villiers campaigns against Labour’s tax on the family home

Theresa Villiers, Conservative Parlimentary Candidate for Chipping Barnet, has been on the doorstep today talking to people about her campaign against Labour’s proposed ‘Mansion Tax’. Theresa said: “I am strongly opposed to Labour’s tax on the family home and I have met many people in Barnet who share that view. Labour’s so-called ‘Mansion Tax’ would hit ordinary homes in Barnet, including many which are nothing like mansions. This is a tax on London. If you want to take action to stop Labour’s homes tax, please contact me to join my re-election campaign.”

21 million households better off because of the Conservative long term economic plan

Theresa Villiers, Conservative candidate for Chipping Barnet, has welcomed the news that millions of households will be better off as a result of tax and benefit changes coming into effect today. Commenting on these changes, Theresa said:“Many of the Conservatives’ new tax and benefit changes come into effect from today – including raising the income tax personal allowance to £10,600. These are measures which reward work and encourage saving as part of our clear, balanced, long-term economic plan which is delivering greater financial security for families.”

Villiers welcomes Pension Freedom Day
